APIs for integrations

The COS platform provides four main groups of APIs: Service provider APIs, provisioning APIs, fiber network documentation APIs and billing APIs.
Service provider APIs
For service providers COS Business Engine offers two options for integration and automation. For easy integration machine readable and structured RPC/e-mails can be sent to the service provider. More advanced two-way integrations are also possible using Service Provider API.

But for certain business models and situations, the providers might look for a higher degree of automation and an increased level of integration into their own operations platforms. This can be accomplished through the COS Service Provider API. Imagine the power of allowing a subscriber to sign up for your service on your own website, and have that service automatically activated within a minute on an infrastructure you didn’t spend a dime building or operating. That is just one example of what COS can offer service providers on an Open Access network operated with COS Business Engine.
Provisioning API
The COS Provisioning API is used for connecting hardware vendor’s management and provisions platforms to the COS software suite – an end-to-end platform that takes the customer from the initial survey to determine interest, through pre-signups to installation on the network. This enables a fully automated ethernet/PON network.

This is accomplished by vendor specific integrations between the COS Provisioning API and the northbound API’s of the EMS (Element Management Systems) provided by your hardware vendor of choice.
As long as there are API’s available, COS can integrate to any hardware vendor, regardless if it is a PON or active ethernet infrastructure. You can even mix hardware vendors within a network. COS is continuously adding support for additional provisioning platforms.
Fiber Network Documentation API
The key to any fiber network project’s short- and long-term success is detailed documentation of the planned and as-built fiber network. The COS-suite integrates to fiber mapping solutions by feeding pre-signed up customers into maps, linking customers and locations to fiber routes in the fiber documentation systems.

Throughout the system data can be exported/imported. Typically used for bulk operations by our customers. You can shedule and sent reports to authorized users containing only the data they have permission to see.
Billing API
One of the costliest problems you can face in network operations is an error in your billing data and processes. Not only do you risk losing out on revenues, but incorrect billing will upset your customers and might damage your brand severely. It’s also usually very time consuming and expensive to find and correct billing errors.

from the Marketplace where the customer will select their own services, to the automated service activation/deactivation and the correct billing. With integrations between the COS Billing API and the customer’s preferred billing platform (e.g. Stripe) the billing will be automated – as will the process of registering or updating credit card or ACH information, which can be done by the customer themselves on their MyPages. There is no need to send out bills either, as they will be available to the customer on their MyPages.
COS Business Engine uses workflows to perform automatization of business logic and processes. The workflow can be customized to both wait for an external event/approval from another system as well as inform/update an external system.
